En la actualidad la Profesión de Enfermería en San Pedro, se encuentra bien posicionada, cuenta con varias instituciones formadoras, la mayoría privadas (en proceso de acreditación) y una universidad pública (la FENOB Filial San Estanislao). En el departamento tenemos tres hospitales grandes de referencia, donde la mayor cantidad de enfermeras trabajan en el Hospital General de Santa Rosa del Aguaray que ya cuenta con 8 años de antigüedad. Existe un déficit de Enfermeros Especialistas por la falta de instituciones que ofrecen especializaciones en la zona pues la mayoría se centralizan en Asunción. En cuanto a la edad hay mayor cantidad de enfermeros/as de 25 a 45 años de edad en la función pública.

La pandemia, como en todos los países tuvo un impacto muy negativo, ya que la enfermedad era desconocida trayendo muchas especulaciones y miedo, eso obligó a una reestructuración constante de los servicios de enfermería, demostrando los problemas como escasez de personal y la necesidad de formar nuevos líderes.

Al principio, nos enfrentamos con la escasez de equipos de Bioseguridad que produjo mucha preocupación en todos, los Equipos de protección individual EPI no eran suficientes, se terminaban rápido. Por este motivo la mayoría de los profesionales empezó a adquirir equipos por propia cuenta y en consecuencia, se dispararon los precios de los equipos y el desabastecimiento en los servicios.

Posteriormente, en base a los reclamos a las autoridades a nivel central fue disminuyendo. Actualmente se cuenta con EPI en todos los servicios en cantidad suficiente. Sin embargo, empezó a sentirse la falta de otros insumos para los pacientes, motivo por el cual iniciaron las movilizaciones a nivel país.

Por otro lado, al inicio de la pandemia se tuvo mucho apoyo de la población, la ciudadanía colaboró con la donación de equipos de bioseguridad, que fue disminuyendo a medida que progresaba la pandemia. Hubo mucho cumplimiento de las medidas adoptadas por el gobierno, esto fue cambiando con las denuncias de corrupción que aparecían.

Los últimos acontecimientos políticos a nivel central, del ministerio y de la enfermería en San Pedro, han tenido un impacto positivo. Se evidencia más Unidad en algunas regiones y espacio para nuevos líderes.

También La APE ocupó un papel fundamental en la defensa de los/as Enfermeros/as del País y la importancia de la participación de nuestra profesión en la toma de decisiones en materia de salud.

Creo que este 2021 será un año muy bueno en enfermería dependiendo siempre de la unidad que se tiene.
