Este 12 de mayo, Día Internacional de las Enfermería se vivió este año en Paraguay con protestas, manifestaciones y demandas al gobierno por mejores condiciones laborales. La lluvia no impidió que el día anterior a la fecha conmemorativa se realizara una movilización que congregó a un gran número de referentes de todo el país frente a las dependencias del Ministerio de Salud.
Las enfermeras exigieron la reglamentación y puesta en vigencia de la ley Nº 6.625 sobre la Carrera Profesional de Enfermería, el pago por el turno nocturno, medicamentos, insumos, y la inmunización fueron los reclamos.
La lluvia no les detuvo, ni el barbijo las amordazó. Expusieron de manera valiente la grave situación que viven a diario, dentro de discursos y reclamos frente al edificio ministerial y en presencia del ministro de salud Dr. Julio Borba, quien escuchó los reclamos y expresó un tibio compromiso de cumplir con las demandas.
Seguidamente las y los manifestantes se dirigieron frente a la caja del Instituto de Previsión Social (IPS) para exigir el cumplimiento del artículo 24 de la ley Nº 3.206 que hace referencia a jubilación. Para luego dirigirse a su destino final, la Catedral Metropolitana, donde el Monseñor Edmundo Valenzuela ofició una misa por las y los 60 fallecidos hasta la fecha por causa del COVID.
