La presidena de APE, Mirna Gallardo, ha venido demandando que la totalidad de enfermeras y enfermeros del país reciban las vacunas contra el COVID-19, luego de que desde el inicio de la pandemia ya han fallecido más de 50 personas del sector y se han contagiado un centenera de profesionales del área, por falta de inmunización e insumos para enfrentar la enfermedad.
En este contexto, dos de nuestras enfemeras, Nidia López y Johana Pitta, se contagiaron y se convirtieron en pacientes también. Desde esa experiencia, quisimos entrevistaslas y saber sobre sus vivencias.
“Fueron momentos muy difíciles estaba ahí en el rol de pacientes”
Johana Elizabeth Pita Vera, tiene 30 años. Es casada y tiene dos hermosos hijos/as: una niña de 9 años y un niño de 4 años. Describe su familia como “estable con un hogar cálido” y que cuando se contagió recibió apoyo y sostén de sus familiares, y ayuda con sus hijos y su marido.
¿En qué servicio Lic. Usted está prestando atención al usuario del hospital central IPS?
Estoy en la parte de pediatría del tercer piso en cuidados especiales hace 1 año 6 meses. También estuve en el hospital universitario, pero por cuestiones de la pandemia hubo recorte de personal y me tocó salir del plantel.
Tenía insumos suficientes para protegerse en el hospital y cuántos pacientes debías asistir en la unidad de cuidados especiales
Si, en todo momento estuvimos respaldadas con toda la protección y equipo de EPI que nos daba por guardia nuestra jefa e incluso, como era un servicio, como su nombre lo decía, cuidados especiales teníamos pacientes con COVID 19 y somos dos colegas que estamos exclusivamente en el servicio y las dos tuvimos COVID; teníamos 3 a 4 pacientes por noche
¿Cómo empezaron tus síntomas Lic. Qué hiciste al respecto como profesional de salud?
Empezaron mis síntomas un día de post guardia en donde empecé con fiebre entonces acudí inmediatamente y consulte en la central de IPS. Me realizaron estudios y me tomaron como dengue primeramente, eso fue el 27 de enero aproximadamente. Luego, en el transcurso de la semana yo seguía con fiebre y dolor muscular, casi todos síntoma de dengue. Luego posterior a eso fui otra vez a consultar a IPS Luque ya que quedaba cerca de mi casa en donde me iniciaron ATB; pero seguía yo con fiebre luego en el trascurso de la tarde ya empecé a tener tos y allí mismo fui a IPS INGAVI en donde me medicaron y seguía los mismos tratamientos, pero yo no sentía mejoría.
Luego me tomaron la muestra en Hospital INGAVI el resultado fue positivo y la tos era más persistente ya me dificultaba respirar y al día siguiente volví al centro me encontraba con una saturación de oxigeno de 95% me internaron ese día 4 de febrero me realizaron salbutamol y estaba con oxígeno de repente recuperaba luego volvía a caer la saturación hasta 88 % cada día me sentía más deteriorada cada día que pasaba me sentía la desesperación era terrible, al octavo día tuvieron que intubarme y fui conectada al respirador estuve 8 días en terapia intensiva, ya me encontraba en el pleno rol de paciente había pasado a ocupar la cama de UTI, la evolución fue muy buena, en una semana me encontraba en sala de internación.
He sentido todo el tiempo el cariño y afecto de mis compañeras quienes cuidaron de mi con dedicación, fueron momentos muy difíciles estaba ahí en el rol de pacientes.
Mis compañeros fueron nuestros ángeles llegué al punto en donde necesitaba ampollas cuantiosas relato lo que me dicen, ya que yo no estaba consciente de nada, pero fueron los que más anduvieron por mí. Durante mi internación realizaban hamburguesas, realizaban vaquitas para juntar dinero ya que no contaba con mucho dinero durante mi internación porque debíamos comprar medicamentos.
¿Algún familiar suyo se contagió de COVID?
Gracias a Dios ninguno de mis hijos no se enfermaron ni mis padres e incluso mi marido que estuvo en todo momento conmigo no se contagió ya que mi marido era el único que me asistía en el INGAVI
¿Cómo te sentís después de tu recuperación?
Ayer volví a mi trabajo increíble el recibimiento y apoyo de todos, y es difícil todo lo que me pasó aun no asimilo, el tiempo pasa rápido y no sabemos que pasará, para mí es un milagro hoy día volver a estar un día más de guardia nuevamente con más protección que nunca pero no es suficiente ya que la ciudadanía no colabora y así nosotros hoy día pasamos por todo esto pero agradecida eternamente a Dios, familia y amigos porque sin ellos no pude sobresalir.
Insto a todos a que se cuiden que usen las medidas y protección de cuidados. Que cuiden de sus hijos que, no realicen cumpleañitos, que eviten cualquier tipo de aglomeración. Es difícil soy testigo de todo esto, no deseo a ninguno, cuiden a sus padres mayores que son muy vulnerables y ante todo agradecer que no lleguen a tener nunca COVID.
“Me siento agradecida de las enfermeras que me cuidadaron”
Estelvina Rosana Paredes Benítez, tiene 47 años de edad, es licenciada en enfermería del Hospital Geriátrico del Instituto de Previsión Social y dio una dura lucha en la batalla contra el COVID-19 luego de ser diagnosticada como positiva.
Ella vive en Capiatá kilómetro 18, es madre de una jóven de 20 años de edad que estudia odontología en la Universidad Uninorte. Por ahora, por cuestiones de la pandemia tuvo que dejar el semestre, pero tiene confianza en que retomará los estudios una vez que se supere la crisis sanitaria.
¿En qué servicio trabaja?
Yo estoy trabajando hace 13 años en el Hospital del Geriátrico IPS de 06 a 12 horas y también en el hospital Universitario de san Lorenzo grupo San Roque hace 12 años de 13 a 19 horas.
¿Tenía insumos suficientes para protegerse en el hospital y cuántos pacientes debías asistir en la unidad?
Si, insumos siempre teníamos ya que estuve en mis dos trabajos en área respiratoria y por cuestiones de vulnerabilidad creo que retorno al trabajo en otro servicio no respiratorio. Aun estoy en shock luego de todo esto, es difícil manejarse como antes en lugares de trabajo luego de todo lo que me pasó. Yo asistía 3 pacientes por día en el geriátrico, siempre en contacto con tres pacientes respiratorios y en el hospital universitario atendíamos 20 pacientes aproximadamente en área de urgencias.
¿Cómo empezaron tus síntomas qué y hiciste al respecto como profesional de salud?
Bueno yo principalmente creo que me contagié por un accidente que tuvimos en el servicio. Mis síntomas eran muy fuertes en las primeras semanas, me daba cefalea intensa, fiebre, dolor de cuerpo. A partir de eso fui a consultar en área respiratoria directamente y ya me dieron reposo y ya no me presenté a trabajar hasta realizarme el hisopado. Luego al retirar resultados ya di positivo y por supuesto cada día mejoraba. Me tuvieron que internar y aparentemente estaba estable. En ese proceso en el tercer día de internación ya empezaba a desaturar a 83; empecé a utilizar mascarilla con reservorio porque me costaba respirar. Como no encontraba mejoría al día siguiente me enviaron a REA ya descompensada y procedieron a intubarme; así rápido fue todo, me llevaron a terapia estuve allí 12 días y 2 días en prono con dos entubaciones porque en la primera programación de destete no aguanté y me tuvieron que volver a intubar. Luego de 12 días me bajaron a sala con dos semanas de internación. En la segunda semana me quitaron el oxígeno con buena respuesta, tuve fisioterapia y ya me trasladaron al baño con ayuda para higiene, ya empezaba a comer y me sentía mejor en total fueron 25 días internación en INGAVI.
¿Como te sentís después de tu recuperación?
Me siento tan, pero tan agradecida, a Dios en especial y por sobre todas las cosas, a mi hija que nunca me abandonó, mi familia, a las enfermeras que me cuidaron humanamente y profesionalmente, a todos mis compañeros del geriátrico y del Universitario, que en todo momento sentí muchísimo apoyo y respaldo, a mis jefes y autoridades y amigos que estuvieron en la lucha también conmigo orando por mi recuperación.
Y mas nada para agregar que jamás se alejen de Dios poniendo preocupaciones y agradecimiento a su nombre agradecer por la vida por lo bueno que es, el único que nunca abandona y sepamos aceptar su voluntad, el me dio una nueva oportunidad de volver a vivir y ver diferente la vida, para bien, agradecida con Él hoy y siempre.
