El doctor Víctor Guillermo Sequera, Director de Vigilancia de la Salud en Paraguay, resaltó que las licenciadas aportan el lado humano al sistema sanitario, y desde que arrancó la pandemia, el personal de blanco ha estado en la primera línea de defensa a nivel mundial, y en nuestro país no ha sido la excepción.
Médicos, médicas, enfermeros y enfermeras se atrincheraron en los hospitales para velar por la salud de los compatriotas pero, lastimosamente en Paraguay las enfermeras y los enfermeros vienen reclamando históricas reivindicaciones que afloraron aún más durante la pandemia. Sumado a eso, el gremio se ha vestido de luto por la pérdida de decenas de profesionales de la enfermería que cayeron en las garras del covid-19.
El director de Vigilancia Sanitaria del Ministerio de Salud Pública y Bienestar Social, ha afirmado que las enfermeras del país merecen un monumento en el Panteón de los Héroes, ya que son ellas las que le dan ese sentido humano a la atención sanitaria. Son las enfermeras quienes cuidan y velan por el bienestar del paciente que llega a un hospital.
En conversación con el departamento de prensa de la Asociación Paraguaya de Enfermería, Sequera volvió a manifestar que la labor de las enfermeras es prácticamente imprescindible para el sistema de Salud.
“Probablemente en un futuro no muy lejano, todo va a ser reemplazado por computadoras, incluso hay algoritmos donde uno coloca los síntomas y sale el tratamiento que requiere, así como la da el médico, pero lo más difícil de reemplazar en la salud van a ser las enfermeras porque es el lado humano del sistema. En salud todo se puede reemplazar menos a las enfermeras ya que el trato humano corresponde al 80, 90% del sistema sanitario y es vital para la recuperación del paciente”, enfatizó.
Asimismo, destacó que las licenciadas y los licenciados nuevamente están cobrando protagonismo en esta etapa de vacunación masiva ya que estos profesionales forman parte del “ejército de vacunadores”.
“En el ex Aratirí hay 200 vacunadores, la sanidad militar también aportó más de 200. Está el que registra, el que prepara. Hay un ejército de vacunadores, y las licenciadas y los licenciados forman parte de esto”, señaló.
En cuanto a la vacunación reconoció que en nuestro país se hubiera vacunado de una forma más masiva desde un principio y de esta manera habríamos podido salvar a más paraguayos y no tener la cifra que tenemos hoy en día de más de 14.000 personas que perecieron a causa del COVID.
“La vacunación tenía que haber empezado antes o con un buen volumen de vacunación. Muchas pérdidas se hubiesen evitado, Uruguay empezó una semana después de nosotros, pero empezaron con un millón de dosis”, afirmó.
Uno de los puntos más criticados por la ciudadanía fue la adherencia de Paraguay al mecanismo COVAX, ya que debido a la falla de este sistema hubo un significativo retraso en la inoculación de los paraguayos, pese a esto, Sequera dijo que él estuvo de acuerdo en que Paraguay se una al mecanismo COVAX.
“Nosotros teníamos que estar en el mecanismo COVAX, yo estuve de acuerdo con eso. Todos los países se metieron al mecanismo COVAX, sí se atrasó también porque también le jodieron al mecanismo COVAX, y lo que pasó fue que los laboratorios resolvieron vender de a puchito las vacunas a un precio mucho mayor que el planteado para esta cooperativa donde los países entraban con una suma de dinero a cambio de un gran volumen de vacunas”, explicó.
Por otra parte, celebró que los paraguayos acudan masivamente a los centros vacunatorios, pero vaticinó un relajo y para dicha etapa se debe planificar la vacunación casa por casa a fin de inmunizar al mayor número de compatriotas.
“Todavía no estamos en zona naranja, todo el país está en zona roja, eso significa que la prevalencia de contagio es muy alta todavía. Todavía estamos en la fase de vacunación en que la gente quiere vacunarse, hará falta 1 millón más para la gente activa que quiere vacunarse. Después de eso, vamos a tener que salir a buscar a quienes vacunar, ver otra estrategia. Habrá relajamiento, los antivacunas son pocos, lo que sucede es que hay mucha gente que no tiene tiempo y bueno a esa gente hay que llevarle la vacuna hasta su casa”, aseveró.
Señaló además que “fuimos el único país donde se saca una lista de personas vacunadas. Lo que se hace es transparencia”, en relación al escándalo de las “vacunados vip” en donde estuvieron involucrados varios políticos y ciudadanos que no cumplían con la franja etaria requerida en esa etapa de las inmunizaciones.
En cuanto a la situación de la pandemia, aseguró que todo dependerá de la cantidad de inoculados que se logre registrar en el país ya que de esto dependerá que el impacto de la nueva variante, denominada Delta, no nos afecte catastróficamente. Recalcó además que no debemos bajar la guardia con los cuidados sanitarios.
“Estamos en una etapa relativamente buena, estamos igual que abril, lo que nos da un poco de tranquilidad es la tendencia que va hacia abajo y vamos a tener un agosto más tranquilo pero capaz tendremos que lidiar con la variante nueva que es la Delta, por eso hay que insistir con los cuidados. Vamos a tener un relajo de la epidemia, pero con todo lo que está ocurriendo en el mundo vamos a tener más casos, la vacunación no frena la ola de impacto, pero sí mitiga el impacto de la siguiente ola. Eso significa que cuando venga la siguiente ola, aunque estemos vacunados si habrá contagio, pero las personas vulnerables estarán protegidas. Yo creo que vamos a tener otra vez un aumento de contagios con la variante Delta, pero sí va a depender muchísimo de la cantidad de vacunados para que no se pierdan vidas”, ratificó finalmente el Dr. Guillermo Sequera.
