La Enfermería en el Sur, departamento de Itapúa, ha estado en contacto con la evolución de la profesión desde que inició su relacionamiento con la Asociación Paraguaya de Enfermería (APE), además de haber crecido en forma gradual tratando de posicionarse en esta zona del país, a pesar de las dificultades propias de la zona, debido a la distancia con la capital, la filial de Itapúa ha sido partícipe del Proyecto de la Ley de Enfermería y dio su apoyo para la posterior aprobación.

En la región, el alcance y la aceptación de la APE es buena, aunque se requiere un mayor fortalecimiento en el sentido de identidad por parte de los enfermeros en la zona, que se da por las múltiples informaciones que llega de otros gremios conformados en las diferentes instituciones que cuentan con sus ideales, tratando de confundir, un poco, a los asociados; ideales contra los que hemos estado luchando constantemente desde la filial, reconociendo la necesidad de estar en mayor comunicación con la APE central.

A pesar de ser una zona fronteriza, en este caso con Argentina, hasta la fecha ha habido pocos momentos de intercambio e interacciones a nivel profesional por la escasa comunicación con los pares extranjeros.

La Filial de Itapúa sigue aun en un proceso de posicionamiento, y para quienes asumimos la responsabilidad de la representación, requiere de un gran compromiso y dedicación.

La pandemia ha tenido su impacto similar, tanto a nivel central, como en el interior y, al ser un país centralizado, los procesos han sido más lentos y limitados para contar con los medios necesarios para el actuar de la enfermería, esto sumado a la dificultad organizacional y la influencia política zonal. Sin embargo, la respuesta de la población ante esta situación ha sido positiva, en especial de empresas locales y familias, dando su apoyo solidario para fortalecer el accionar del área de la salud. Como es una situación inusual, y con tal magnitud, que nos encontró a todos sin la preparación para afrontarla adecuadamente.

Actualmente, se está afrontando con mayor fortaleza desde las diferentes áreas, ya con mayor conocimiento y manejo, pero aún se implementan ajustes; se realizan obras y mejoras a fin de adecuar la infraestructura que a nivel departamental ha estado sobrepasada en su capacidad. También, desde el área de Recursos Humanos se gestiona contar con lo necesario para afrontar la situación; igualmente se cuenta con el apoyo de Municipios y el Gobierno Departamental, instalándose en algunos distritos, los medios para brindar una mayor cobertura que sigue siendo insuficiente, en especial en recursos humanos y especialistas.

La perspectiva que genera la Carrera Profesional de Enfermería, pasa a ser en este momento una luz, para posicionar a la profesión a un nivel de exigencias y de retribución que requiere de mayor información, por lo que se inicia el gran trabajo de comunicar y actualizar a los compañeros, tarea que no será fácil por la información que confunde y que se da por las múltiples instancias que tienen su propia interpretación, sumado a la comunicación desde los diferentes gremios, a pesar de estar dándose un consenso a nivel nacional.
