El trabajo como profesionales de enfermería nos lleva más de 25 años de nuestra vida, según la Ley de Enfermería, eso ocurre después de los 55 años, aunque muchos enfermeros y enfermeras se jubilan con más edad. En este sentido, conversamos con la Licenciada Arminda Elizabeth Vera Venialgo, enfermera-obstetra, para conocer su experiencia. Ella nos cuenta que cumplió 55 años de edad y 26 años de aporte e inmediatamente, el día siguiente, presentó la documentación para gestionar su jubilación con mucha alegría y expectativas.

Lamentablemente, toda la burocracia existente en el sistema hizo que pasaran casi dos años más para poder jubilarse. Sin embargo, la Ley de Obstetricia, fue para ella fue un balde de agua fría, en el buen sentido, ya que le trajo esperanza, debido a que participó activamente en la elaboración, defensa y logro de aprobación de la ansiada Ley de Enfermería, la cual pasó a ser la base y modelo para el logro del beneficio de la jubilación digna para otras profesionales de la salud.

Cuatro años antes inició una pequeña empresa llamada Hidro Urbana Ka’avo, que en realidad empezó́ como un pasatiempo en el rubro de cultivos hidropónicos. En sociedad con su hermana, empezaron a incursionar con un invernadero y el cultivo de 500 lechugas hidropónicas, las cuales plantaban desde las semillas hasta su venta final en sus diferentes etapas de crecimiento. Al mismo tiempo, como era un rubro nuevo, se dedicaban a apoyar a estudiantes que participaban de cursos de capacitación en cultivos hidropónicos en las diferentes facultades que dictan la carrera de Agronomía.

En la actualidad, a 5 años de iniciar la mini empresa y a un año de su jubilación, la empresa de la Lic. Arminda cuenta con 7 invernaderos y una capacidad de 10 mil plantas, así́ como en cultivo de otras variedades tales como berro, rúcula, albahaca, pepino, acelga nacional, acelga japonesa, cilantro (kuratü) y diferentes tipos de lechuga que es el producto de mayor demanda. Esta microempresa familiar da empleo a 10 personas y se solventa con los ingresos propios de la venta de sus productos que tienen alta demanda. Abastece a clientes revendedores de otras empresas, trabajadores del área gastronómica y al consumidor final; todos ellos retirando los productos de la misma empresa.
